Mystery surrounds playground closure

Hesketh Park playground has been shut down during the hottest day of the year so far leaving hundreds of children in tears.

Park wardens have shut the gates of the popular playground and sent upset children packing when they turned up this afternoon to try and play.

Wardens ties cables round the gates meaning parents had to console their crying children who had been promised hours of fun in the playground.
