Mum’s appeal after son left fighting for life in Scarisbrick crash

The mother of Kai Johnstone has urged people to come forward and help with any information after a teenage boy was left fighting for his life after being hit by a car near Southport.

Karan Johnstone launched her appeal as her son recovers from his injuries in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

Karan said: “Our 14-year-old son Kai has suffered serious head injuries after a collision in Scarisbrick .

“The accident happened at around 8.20pm on Saturday September 17 on Heaton’s Bridge, Dam Wood Lane, Scarisbrick.

“ Kai was cycling when he was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

“He has suffered serious head and facial injuries and was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to save his life.

“He remains in Alder Hey hospital three weeks on from the collision.

“We are asking people who may have been in the area, or anyone with information to contact police on 101 quoting log reference 1499 of September 17.”
