Meols Cop Road closed for another week

Meols Cop Road could be closed until next Wednesday while essential sewer maintenance is completed.

United Utilities have secured an emergency closure order from Sefton Council to conduct repairs.

The order states that: “Meols Cop Road, Southport be temporarily closed to all traffic from 5th May to 19th May 2021 or until the works are complete.”

The closure has caused significant traffic disruption in the area, particularly down Haig Avenue.

However guidance says delays are likely until 14 May, meaning the road could be opened ahead of schedule on Friday.
