Matthew makes Leicester disaster Pilgrimage

A Southport football fan has made a pilgrimage to Leicester’s King Power stadium to pay tribute to the five people killed in Saturday’s disaster.

Matthew Lawrenson said he wanted to show that every football fan stands shoulder to shoulder with Leicester City following the death of their chairman and four other people in a helicopter crash.

Matthew, from Southport, chose to lay down his beloved Bolton FC shirt with a message reading “RIP from a Bolton fan #FootballFamily”

Matthew is thought to be the first Sandgrounder to pay personal tribute to Leicester but it’s expected that many more will follow in his footsteps over the coming days, joining millions of fans across the world in paying their respects.
