15th December 2021

Police and emergency crews have been surrounding a Cemetery Road business this afternoon after a man reportedly made severe threats.

The Hogfather Building on Cemetery Road was surrounded by police after a man reportedly entered the property and began making a series of threats.

One of the threats resulted in Merseyside Fire and Rescue teams being called to the scene.

Their response is thought to have been precautionary and relating to the building’s close proximity to a petrol station.

Police told OTS News that they safely detained one male following the incident.

While first being treated as a civil dispute, it’s understood the situation quickly escalated under threat of further criminal damage and police were forced to detain a man.

He is being held on suspicion of threats to cause criminal damage.
