A man has been charged with a shoplifting offence in Southport.
On Thursday 3 September, it was reported that a man stole various items from Sainsbury’s, at Meols Cop Retail Park.
Luke Jackson, 28, of Earon Drive, in Southport, was arrested yesterday (Wednesday 16 September) and has now been charged with theft from a shop. He has been remanded to appear at Wirral Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday 17 September).
Jackson was arrested by officers from the Southport Town Centre Team, which is a dedicated neighbourhood policing unit formed to tackle retail crime, anti-social behaviour and serious violence in the town.
In Southport, there has been a 32% reduction in reports of retail theft from April to September 2026 compared with the same period last year.
