Man assaulted in Leyland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Leyland last month.

 The incident happened at around 2.30am on Saturday 27 June at the junction of Towngate and Hough Lane. The 45 year old victim was followed a short distance by an unknown man before he was attacked from behind.

 The offender is described as white, aged in his early twenties, approximately 6ft tall with short hair and some facial hair. He is believed to have been wearing a dark hooded top and a pair of knee length shorts.

 PC 4178 Will Rimmington of Chorley Police said: “This unprovoked assault has left an innocent victim with serious facial injuries requiring surgery and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or who has any information that could help to identify the offender to come forward.”
