Lancashire police host internet safety Q&A on Facebook

    By 9th February 2015

Lancashire Constabulary is reminding people of the importance of staying safe online ahead of Safer Internet Day tomorrow, by holding a question and answer session on Facebook to discuss the importance of internet safety.

The annual campaign, now in its’twelfth year, is celebrated in over 65 countries, and recognises the importance of the internet, how to get the most out of it and how to use it safely and responsibly.

The theme for Safer Internet Day 2015 is ‘Let’s create a better internet together’, emphasising the responsibility all users have in making the internet a better place.

In support of Internet Safety Day, Lancashire Constabulary’s Cyber Crime Liaison Officer DC Mark Laing will be holding a question and answer session on Facebook tomorrow lunch time between 12.30 and 1.30pm.

This will be an opportunity for people to ask direct questions about their e-safety concerns, the different types of cyber crime and steps they can take to keep themselves and their families safe online.

The question and answer session can be found at www.facebook.com/lancspolice

Safety tips and advice for children, parents and teachers can be found viawww.trusted2know.co.uk or www.lancashire.police.uk .

More information about Safer Internet Day can also be found atwww.saferinternet.org . We will also be using the national hastags #SID2015 #Up2Us.
