Apprenticeships offer people with an alternative route into skilled employment and are a great way to earn whilst you learn and gain vital work experience. They are available to people of all ages making them a great option for anyone looking to change their career path, improve their skills in order to secure a new role or re-enter employment after taking time out. Undertaking an Apprenticeship at the Trust provides people with the chance to do what they believe in, whilst making a difference to the lives of the people of Lancashire and beyond.

Amy Bell, Pharmacy Apprentice at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:

“Choosing an apprenticeship has allowed me to develop new skills and experience in the field of work that I want my career to progress in. At school I didn’t know what I wanted to do or what I wanted to be, I studied at college and went on to university, as that was the direction I was guided towards.

“However even after completing my degree, I still felt slightly lost and confused. I had come across the idea of working in pharmacy, however I didn’t know how to acquire skills or gain experience in that area. This apprenticeship has allowed me to gain the experience and the skills that I need to further myself in the field of work that I want to work in, all whilst working on the job.”

Sohaib Naseem, Business Administration Apprentice at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:

“I chose an apprenticeship at Lancashire Care as I wanted to gain experience of working in the NHS and a customer facing role as this will help me in my future career. I decided that I wanted to learn more about business and chose to do this through a business admin apprenticeship so that I could gain a recognised qualification whilst undertaking full time employment. I wanted to gain experience in the working environment as I have not gained much work experience prior to my Apprenticeship.

“I really enjoy working for the Trust and feel so well supported by my manager who helps me prioritise my workload and is always there answer my questions and provide advice to me whenever I need help.”

The success of the Trust’s apprenticeship scheme is a result of the support that is offered to apprentices including; confidence building training , buddy system, support groups and team building days. All of the Trust’s apprentices can enjoy working and learning while feeling well supported in their role, making Lancashire Care a great place to complete an apprenticeship.
