Labour tactics – whose town is it anyway?

16th December 2017

Do they think all Sandgrounders are stupid?

Liz Savage, Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Southport, says:
“Hello, I’m Liz Savage, your Labour Parliamentary Candidate. I was born in Liverpool, grew up in Ormskirk and now live in Tarleton, so Southport has always been an integral part of my life.”

If this is not rampant political spin then what is?

Ms Savage tells readers that she is a Liverpudlian who was raised in Ormskirk and now lives in Tarleton. She also studied International Relations at the University of Bradford, where she gained a degree in Peace Studies.

She integrates herself a little more with her remark about Southport being an “integral” part of her life. By the same token, are town like Wigan, St Helens and Manchester perhaps also an “integral” part of her life? The unusual logic behind her comments here remains somewhat obscure.

Like the incoherent and largely unseen Southport Tories with their Preston – based MP, Damien Moore, can Southport Labour not find a true Sandgrounder to fly their flag in our town?

Ms Savage also tell readers that the “Labour Party seek to establish a FAIR and JUST” National Health Service. What a tactless thing to say to Southport families. She must think Southport residents have short-term memories!

Back in 2003 the Southport public rose up en masse, in protest against a pathetic Labour government that stood by and watched the town’s Children’s Accident and Emergency services and later our Maternity Services get shipped off to the town where Liz Savage was raised, Ormskirk.

The ongoing quest to turn Southport into ‘Little Liverpool’ is believed by many residents to be a long-standing, Bootle-based, Labour stratagem, yet insightful Sandgrounders are now seeing past these abject political gyrations.

The same political rotations may be seen in this party’s cunning dealings with ‘ever-trusting’ and somewhat unsuspecting residents in various Southport wards, such as Kew.

What Labour’s Liz Savage sees as “Fair and Just” may not sit well with some more prudent Southport families today!
