Labour Liz clears the weed from High Park alley

Elizabeth Savage has been out helping Norwood Labour members in Southport to have a positive effect on their community.

Elizabeth said: “Amazing what team work achieves in very little time”.

A delighted resident, Jacqui Conway Ross said: “I got home from the yard this evening to find the Southport Labour Party finishing a fantastic job for the good of the community – clearing all the weeds from the alley way next to our house – the one between Newton Street and Milton Street”.

Out of control weeds-High Park

After complaints from a local resident about the height and number of weeds in a cut through in High Park Cllr Marianne Welsh went to investigate and was shocked at what she saw as many of the weeds were 3ft high or more.

Clr Welsh said: “I had been assured by Sefton Council only last week that there had been two lots of weed spraying in the ward, but if this was done they certainly must have forgotten this well used cut through.  Not only does it look terrible, some of the weeds are now growing through the boundary walls on either side.

I do not think it acceptable that after the problems last year regarding weed spraying in Southport we seem to be having similar problems yet again”.
