Huge store reveals it could leave Lord Street before Christmas

A major hole could appear on Lord Street after Debenhams announced they’re set to shut down around 50 stores.

The Southport store has been on the slide for years and less and less people are coming through the doors.

Nationally the closure could lead to over 4,000 jobs being lost and at least thirty at the Lord Street Debenhams.

Staff woke up to the news this morning after the company announced pre tax losses of £491 million this year.

If the store does close it will be the latest in a long line of major closures to hurt Southport
