Hillside Micropub to receive top CAMRA Award

The Grasshopper micropub in Hillside has been voted the best pub in Southport by CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. The CAMRA award will be presented to the pub by Doug MacAdam on Thursday (12th July 1018) at 7:30pm.

Doug MacAdam, chairman of the branch said “The Grasshopper has come onto the local beer scene very quickly. The Grasshopper was voted the CAMRA Pub of the Year for Summer 2017 and has now received the top award”.

The Grasshopper offers a selection of 8 real ales and 6 real ciders. The range of real ales and ciders on offer frequently changes and they always seems to offer something new. The micropub has caught the eye after holding a series of beer and cider festivals and other events.

The Southport and West Lancashire branch of CAMRA held the vote amongst its 700 members and decided to give the award to the Grasshopper micropub. The Grasshopper narrowly beat runners-up The Guest House and takes over from the Tap & Bottles as the town’s Pub of the Year.

Angie Frith the owner said “We are honoured to receive this award. We are small but we like to create a friendly environment for customers. Everyone is welcome for the award celebration.”

The Grasshopper is in Sandon Road close to Hillside Train station.
