Help a hedgehog and save a life this wintertime

26th October 2017

Staff at Woodlands animal sanctuary in Holmeswood are urging families to create hedgehog-friendly habitats in their gardens to help their prickly friends put on weight in the run-up to hibernation!

Sally McDerby from the sanctuary revealed that autumn is the most import- ant time of the year for hedgehogs as they need to make the magic number of 750g in body mass to be able to survive the winter.

She said: “You can help by providing a hog-friendly habitat where they are safe, can find sufficient food and have enough space to get away from each other when needed.”
