H is for… HMS Prince of Wales

29th February 2020

Yesterday, Southport’s Arctic 24 Lifeboat headed down to the River Mersey to meet the Royal Navy’s 65,000 tonne warship, HMS Prince of Wales.

Our lifeboat was joined by RNLI Lifeboats from New Brighton, Hoylake and Lytham St. Annes as Her Majesty’s Ship sailed into Liverpool, where she is expected to be alongside Liverpool’s Landing Stage until Friday 6 March.

It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome HMS Prince of Wales to her affiliated city for her first public visit.

Many thanks to Dave James for his fantastic picture of Heather White riding the waves alongside HMS Prince of Wales. If you spotted our lifeboat yesterday, please share your pictures with us!
