Travellers burst through Princes Park bollards and set up camp

Travellers wielding axle grinders have burst through bollards at Princes Park and set up camp.

It’s thought they won’t be on site for long as police seek to move them on for destroying the bollards.

The park has only just recovered from last week’s orange lodge parade and is already being covered in rubbish and litter again.

At least ten caravans have set up home on the park since early this morning with more expected later today.

Although faster and more effective enforcement powers have come into force regarding unauthorised Gypsy / traveller’s sites, it still hasn’t stopped a number of travellers setting up camp Prines Park Southport.
