Armed robbery at Penwortham pub

We are reassuring the public and appealing for information as our investigation into an armed robbery at a Penwortham pub is well underway.

At around 9:55pm last night (1 May), a 22-year-old member of staff at The Fleece Public House on Liverpool Road was threatened with a small handgun by a man as she was carrying a till tray containing money.

He made demands for cash and managed to steal £500 before escaping out of a back door.

The man is described as white, of medium build and in his twenties.  He was wearing a grey scarf covering his face, a light grey hooded top and white Nike trainers with a blue tick.  He spoke with a local accent.

DI Jo Keay from Preston Police said: “We have a team of experienced detectives working on this investigation and I would like to reassure the residents of Penwortham that although incidents of this kind are rare, we have stepped up our presence in the area and we want people to enjoy the rest of their bank holiday weekend as normal.

“Enquiries are underway and we are determined to find the person responsible for this robbery.”
