Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) launch night
A rival burger bar chain has opened up next to the Bar & Burger Co.
It’s expected the Gourmet Burger Kitchen, which launched last night on Ocean Plaza, will compete almost directly with Bob Warrior’s Bar & Burger Co – an established local firm – just yards away.
A soft launch was held for the GBK Ocean Plaza site on Thursday evening (10 February) with staff facing a packed out restaurant.
As a special giveaway, invited guests were given a free burger, side and drink – although if you’d paid for the meal itself it would have come to nearly £40 for two people!
The expensive prices may not be enough to see GBK survive outside of its more established city locations and it’s as yet unknown how it will fare alongside businesses run locally – Sandgrounders are well known for sticking with their own and it’s likely the challenge from GBK will enrage the Bar & Burger Co.
