Four rescued after getting stuck in mud flats

Firefighters were called to an incident today involving people stuck in mud flats at Crosby Beach.

Firefighters assisted in the rescue of four people, working together with the Coastguard, RNLI and Merseyside Police.

Crews were on scene at 11.01am.

Two fire engines, the Search and Rescue team and rescue boat Marine Fire One were in attendance.

The four people were located on Crosby Beach, close to Hall Road West, one up to their waist in mud.

The four, who have been rescued, will be assessed by ambulance staff.

Please be aware that mud flats at the beach are treacherous and it is very easy to become stuck fast quickly and at serious risk from rising tides.

As soon as sand underfoot becomes muddy and soft, return to firm ground immediately.
