Dog owners say their pets have been falling sick after eating ‘ash’ from the recent Fireworks competition.
Worried pet owners have shared warnings to other dog walkers in Southport to be careful what their dogs eat after some animals fell ill this week.
The sickness has been casually linked to ash and discarded material on land around the Marine Lake, which dog walkers say is from the fireworks at Victoria Park.
One Dalmatian owner wrote to OTS News to say “for any dog owners in Southport they need to please be aware if they are doing any dog walking around Marine Lake to be careful.
“I went out for a walk with Scooby this afternoon and he has been sick all night since. I’ve taken him to the vets and they think he has ingested something which made him poorly.
“I believe he has ate some ash and rubbish from the fireworks. It’s happened before that the wind blows all the mess from it over the town and we dog owners pay the price.
“Fireworks have an awful lot to answer for and the safety of our dogs are always the first to be a victim of them.”
