Firefighters from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have attended a house fire at an apartment block on Kingsway in the town centre.
The alarm was raised just after 1.30pm with paramedics and fire crews dashing to the block of flats immediately.
Other residents were evacuated immediately.
Photos seen by OTS News show fire fighters using a ladder to bring down two people from the apartment after their main route of escape was blocked.
Three fire engines, police and paramedics were called to the scene and the road was closed off to traffic.
An update from Merseyside Fire and Rescue is expected shortly.
