Figures reveal Strand is MAKING money for Council

10th August 2018

Sefton Council’s takeover of the Strand Shopping Centre appears to be already bearing fruit with the Bootle site generating £1million in 2017/18, which will be spent on local services.

The figure has come to light after Southport-based Conservative Councillor Ron Watson questioned the leader of Sefton Council Cllr Ian Maher at a recent Full Council meeting.

Cllr Watson wanted to find out why the council had bought the Strand considering expensive repair work which needs to be carried out to fix the roof.

The deal has been repeatedly slammed by residents in southport who say it’s another example of the council wasting money.
