A Birkdale family rocked by a New Year home invasion robbery have been left devastated after they were told they will need to pay to get their belongings back.

Their family car was stolen in the robbery and it was only thanks to a specially fitted tracker that police managed to recover it and at the same time break up a Liverpool chop shop crime ring.

But the Birkdale family have now been told they need to pay nearly £300 to retrieve their car from evidence.

The recovery service is the latest blow after the family also lost thousands of pounds in cash and personal belongings in the theft.

They told OTS News:

“We thought it was a joke when we got told to pay for our car back. It’s our car and we didn’t ask for it to get stolen so why should we pay for it along with stolen items left in it. Have we not already lost enough?”
