EEC tackling Tough Mudder for Queenscourt Hospice

11th July 2015

It’s advertised as ‘possibly the toughest event on earth’. But this clearly hasn’t stopped the brave mudders of EEC taking part in the event for 2 years now and in that small space we have managed to squeeze in 4 tough Mudder events!!!

This year EEC will be taking on Tough Mudder Yorkshire on Saturday 1nstAugust. EEC will be running the 12-mile long course whilst tackling over 21 bad-ass obstacles on the way to the finish line.

With obstacles including a sprint through 10,000 volts of electricity and jumping into a container of ice, which is kept at a certain temperature all day, just to ensure everyone experiences the same nasty chill! There’s also the dashing through fire and obstacles with names like ‘Walk the Plank’ (where we have to jump 15ft into freezing water) and ‘electric eel’ (where we have to slide on our belly in ice and water under barbed wire and electric live wires overhead) this really is the stuff of nightmares! This event is not for the light hearted; are we crazy, you bet we are!

16 brave employees from EEC Home Improvements, signed up once more in a moment of madness to take part in this crazy event that will push us to the limits and test our fitness levels to the core. Our team is made up of 2 girls and 12 boys and it’s going to be our toughest and most gruelling challenge to date. EEC are half way through 6 weeks of Boot camp training with Ste from Go Commando, our go to marine to who’ll once again whip us into shape so we can conquer Tough Mudder for our 4th time.

You are probably thinking why would we put ourselves through this gruelling ordeal 4 times? To raise money for charity of course, this year we will be supporting Queenscourt Hospice an amazing charity who does so much to help the people in their care and also their families. Supporting this fantastic charity is our main reason to push to get to the finish line after 3 – 4 hours off pain all in the hopes that we can raise as much money as we can for Queenscourt Hospice.

EEC started fundraising in August of 2013 so it EEC’s charity departments 2nd birthday next month. EEC aim to support as many charity’s as we can and we do this by picking a different charity each month to support on our dress down Friday so far we have managed to raise £21,578.92 which is a HUGE amount to raise in just two years. It is all down to our generous employees who are willing to give in their donation each month and take part in all of our crazy fundraising activities.

This is our Virgin Money giving link where all the money goes directly to Queenscourt. www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/EECToughMudder2015
