DAY OF THE DEAD DRUMS UP HIGH SPIRITS AT PLEASURELAND

24th September 2019

Day of the Dead, or ‘Día de los Muertos,’ is a Mexican celebration that has its sights dead set on delivering some Latin fever in Southport this November (2nd).

The town’s Pleasureland Park will host the festivities which feature an explosion of family-friendly colour and high spirits.

While the theme celebrates loved ones who have passed away, it is very much all about the joy of life and demonstrating love and respect for friends and family who are no longer in the world.

Pleasureland is taking its inspiration from the towns and cities throughout Mexico, where revellers go all-out with skull-themed makeup and hit the dressing-up box for weird and wonderful costumes, hold parades and parties, sing and dance, and drum up irresistible dance beats.

The park’s festival of fierce colours and exuberant firework finale is now in its second year. The carnival atmosphere will welcome stilt walkers, fire-eaters, fire-spinners and a live dance DJ. This year the event will be bigger and better than ever before with live stage shows, dancers, a samba drumming band and plenty of surprises throughout the evening.

And, if you’re feeling arty, why not try your hand at making your own colourful traditional Day of the Dead sugar skull.

Bars and food concessions will be open and buzzing as the excitement mounts.

Tickets for the event are now on sale and include a family group discount package at https://www.southportpleasureland.com/day-of-the-dead/

Children under 90cm tall enter free and all rides on the night will be just £1.50 each offering a huge saving.

Gates open 5pm. Visit www.southportpleasureland.com for tickets.
