Southport MP Damien Moore has responded to the Merseyside Police Commissioner’s consultation on increasing the policing precept in Southport, remarking it as tendentious and limited.

Damien Moore MP said:

“Once again, the Labour Party is showing that Southport is seen as a cashcow for projects in other parts of Merseyside.

“My constituents already pay enough tax for the fair funding of services – why should they have to pay more when the Commissioner will not commit to investing back into our town any of the money she intends to collect.

“The Commissioners tendentious and limited consultation even omitted speaking with Southport residents – somethingshe did afford to those living in Bootle and other parts of Merseyside.
