Seasonal Crime Prevention Tips

Out and About

  • When you are shopping take particular care of purses and wallets, pick pockets are looking to enjoy Christmas at your expense.
  • Bells attached to purses act as a warning if someone has opened your bag, you may not feel anything but you will hear the bells ring.
  •  Card Defenders or metal card cases can prevent your contactless cards being cloned.
  • Keep the fastening of your bag next to your body to make it more difficult for the pickpockets.
  • Wallets should be in an inside pocket of your clothing for extra protection.
  • Put ‘smart key fobs’ in a metal box with a lid when at home or in a metal foiled lined case or pouch when out and about.

Card Defenders, bells and pouches are available from Southport Home Watch.
