CNN appealing for residents in Southport to dig out any old Arnold Palmer cuttings

American network CNN are appealing for residents in Southport to dig out any old cuttings they may have of the famous Arnold Palmer Birkdale Open

If you have any information that may help, you could be featured on international television later this year as part of CNN’s Living Golf Feature on the Royal Birkdale Open.

A spokesperson for CNN said: “We are currently in the process of exploring avenues of interest for our July show, which will feature an emphasis on Arnold Palmer’s historic victory at Royal Birkdale in 1961, as a way of previewing this year’s Open Championship at the same venue.

“As such, we would like to know if any residents have any photos, articles or other visual materials from Palmer’s victory in ’61, and whether we might be able to use them as part of our show.

“If you’re unfamiliar with the Living Golf show, we broadcast in seven different languages across the CNN network, including TV, digital and mobile platforms and reach more than 425 million households.”
