Marks and Spencer have announced the impending closure of a number of UK stores as part of plans to turn around the business.
M&S chief executive Steve Rowe also announced a shake- up of its international opera- tions.
Mr Rowe provided an update on the retailer’s latest trading performance on Tuesday.
Smaller M&S branches in weaker High Streets are fore- cast to bear the brunt of the cuts but worried staff, speaking anonymously, contacted OTS this week to say they believed that Southport’s Chapel Street store could soon be up for the chop.
They say they see more people using the store as a cut through to the station rather than shopping there
