Cambridge Road lights still out after traffic light collapses

By On The Spot News30th December 2022

A busy pedestrian crossing has been closed off after a traffic light collapsed.

The heavy unit at the junction of Cambridge Road and Preston New Road is blocking the crossing.

It’s not known how the traffic lights came to fall over but there is no sign of any impact from a car.

Highways contractors have closed off the area and turned off power to the lights.

People wanting to safely cross the road between Foden’s Newsagents and the Spar now have to walk the long way round via three extra crossings at the notoriously busy four way junction.

It’s unlikely the lights will be fixed before the new year.
