Busy time for Southport Lifeboat teams

27th June 2020

CALL OUTS – 25/6/20 – 13:20 & 18:08

It was a busy day for Southport Lifeboat with our teams called to multiple incidents along the coast.

Our first page, at 13:20, Southport Lifeboat and Quads were tasked to reports of a person in difficulty in the water off Formby Point.

The quads proceeded to the scene while Southport Lifeboat launched and headed to Formby Point.

As the quads were on their way to Formby, they were flagged down by a member of the public who had come across a child without her parents. HM Coastguard then informed the quads of a second tasking regarding a missing child. As the quads had already located the child, the boat and Quad 2 headed to Lifeboat Road to search for the person in the water. It was soon established from the police at scene that the person had left the water and there were no further persons in danger. The child was reunited with her family and both the boats and quads stood down.

Our second tasking of the day was to two missing children off Lifeboat Road, Formby. The quads proceeded from the boathouse but were stood down as they arrived on scene as the children had been located safe and well.

Our thanks to all involved in what was an exceptionally hot day!
