Park rangers in Southport have spent the afternoon scrambling to catch an escaped bird from the Botanic Gardens aviary.
OTS News understands a parakeet has managed to make a hole in the cage before escaping in front of amazed visitors to the park.
Rangers were alerted to the breakout around 1pm after the jailbird was spotted flying around the perimeter of the aviary.
This is not the first time birds have managed to escape the aviary and questions have been raised about the quality and safety of the cages the birds are kept in.
It’s understood the escaped parakeet has now been captured and returned to the aviary safely.
