A blind sight loss campaigner has tied the knot with her beloved guide after the pair fell head over heels for each other at Southport Park Run.

Kelly Barton, a sight loss awareness champion, said ‘I Do’ at a special ceremony in Southport yesterday as she married her long term partner.

The pair were introduced at the Hesketh Part park run in Southport seven years ago after officials to Mike, a kind hearted guide runner whose job it was to guide Kelly around the course.

Over many laps and seven years of weekend runs the duo found their own personal bests in each other and a proposal soon followed.

Joined by friends and family at Southport Town Hall yesterday Kelly and Mike tied the knot.

Kelly said “ Seven years ago I met an amazing guy at Southport Park Run.

Me, a blind runner and him my guiderunner. Over the miles we fell madly in love.

“And yesterday we became husband & wife!”
