A Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) customer discovers a bird lung in his meal. Mr Nicholls, from Australia’s Gold Coast, had gone to KFC on his day off and ordered a three-piece box, containing two wings and a chicken breast. He was horrified to find the giblets in his meal and spat the rest out. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/kentucky-fried-chicken-lung-man-112544267.html Russian roulette with your health? I look on in total disbelief at the lines of cars impatiently waiting to be served with this factory-farmed crap. The more you research it the more disbelief you access at what folks are willing to be involved in to stuff their faces.…

Photo: Pat Regan tucks into the world hottest chilies. I grow chilies myself and speak as I find independently. This video below is of me having a bite at this fascinating variety, the Carolina Reaper. This season I grew the ‘officially’ hottest variety, which is the Carolina Reaper. I affectionately call them ‘C-reapers’ Young plants in the sun A nice tasting and juicy chili that has a good bite. The heat is slow to hit home and I found this one warmed me up nicely for quite a while after eating it. This variety takes up a lot of space however,…

I was chatting with my wife whilst drinking tea in our Ainsdale home when we both saw a UFO streaking across the sky. Sadly, I was unable to take a photo or video footage. The painting I have created in this article is just my ‘artist’s impression’ of the UFO. I call it a UFO as at the time of writing the object is unidentified. This UFO was impressive and held a greenish centre and a long tail that was visible for several seconds. It was quite amazing and it appeared to be moving at high speed. We were looking in an…
Vivid colours this morning as we see the last rising sun of the year, lighting up the wooded area in Ainsdale Southport. Sadly, the previously well-maintained Woodvale Woodland Project (WWP) outdoor class room area within the woods is now broken, rotting and neglected. This was the environmental project on council-owned Woodvale land that has previously seen such controversy, with the charity – based mismanagement that surrounded it. Please see this link for details… http://woodvalewp.blogspot.co.uk/ Ainsdale’s Tory Cllr, (and WWP director) Ted Hartill, had happily bragged to WWP volunteers that he was using this community project to promote himself politically. Following mismanagement…
Bad news for an unlucky boat owner. Reasons for this sinking have been debated at some length on this Facebook thread by experienced boating enthusiasts. Pat Viner on facebook said: “Unfortunately this photo shows only too well one of the reasons that the modern habit of tying the boats up on very short ropes at 90 degrees to the boat is such a bad idea. “If the boat cant move as the water rises it has no option but to tip over therefore likely to take in water and sink, The older style of mooring i.e. front rope going forwards…
Residents left with no waste collection at Christmas, as promised! Residents in a Sandbrook Road area were dismayed to discover that bins and bottles etc have not been collected as promised by Sefton Council. Although the main road had been collected, this cul-de-sac was clearly missed out. An angry resident quoted: “Stickers on bins and advice on the council website clearly stated that bins etc were due to be collected on 24th December. We all left them out as advised yet it’s now Xmas Day and we are all stuck with rubbish overflowing.” Who is supposed to be…
Charles Dickens unintentionally marked this merry time of the season exceedingly well in his classic tale, ‘A Christmas Carol’, which oddly enough was published on the ‘same’ day in mid-December that I find myself writing this particular piece, but way back in 1843. Yuletide/Midwinter Solstice is a critical element of within our native, Pagan spiritual inheritance. It resides so deep within us that we cannot conceivably resist it. The Solstice itself is a festive event that touches us with the extraordinary seasonal energies of this planet, of which we are all an essential part. We should always celebrate and enjoy it…
How they are killing off our Sandgrounder heritage Guns and bullets are not the ‘only’ way to cleanse an area of its native people. There are other, more clandestine, ways to eradicate an identity and what follows marks one classic example. The makeup of Southport has changed so much over the previous years and at times one is hard-pressed to find genuine Sandgrounders. This was not helped with the outrageous hospital cuts of 2003, which in a way marked a form of creeping ethnic cleaning. They shipped our Children’s A&E and Maternity services to another county. This ruse naturally meant…
We were there in 2003 when they took our Children’s A&E and Maternity services away from Southport and we are still here today in 2015 This is the latest CARES site, which is currently a brief contact point for information. http://southportcares.myfreesites.net/ All previous data has been saved for posterity. The big CARES march – were you there? Today we are urging folks to sign our latest petition. Southport needs a Minor Injuries Unit for children and an extension to the Brookdale Dementia Care Services. The derelict Sandbrook Way area of Woodvale would be an ideal central situation for this as it urgently needs redeveloping. Catherine Regan…
Here is a little refresher in case anyone missed the entertainment last time around. This was Sefton Tory Chief’s (Councillor Terry Jones) previous threat against a local family, who were apparently expected to bow down and cry after receiving his rambling and largely illegible legal threat. Jones was given ample opportunity by the family in question (the Regans of Ainsdale) to response but, in true bully-boy fashion, he apparently elected to cut and run instead. This was very peculiar behaviour for a politician in his elevated position. Here is the Tory Group Leader’s very strange (grammatical errors left intact) and…
Before it kills the mantis likes to pray – sound familiar? Here we go again! So the ‘experts’ we trust to keep us safe have largely decided to wage a new war on Syria. MPs have controversially backed UK air strikes against so-called Islamic State in Syria, by 397 votes to 223, after a drawn out 10-hour Commons debate. So that ‘s 223 area’s political reps in the UK that did NOT want to drop bombs on a far off land! I’m not too sure just what the handful of planes from the UK will achieve when sent into Syria on…
I wrote the following article some years ago, but something tells me that it’s an issue we need to urgently revisit today! Humanity has at times become preoccupied by what lies beyond the stars and our link with our intergalactic cousins. This is good and wholesome, yet harsh truths closer to home must frequently take priority. We can easily forget that the dire failings of our fellow humans can affect us all at times more than we care to admit. Our offspring are the vital future of our species and as such they are a precious resource that ‘must’ be…
Transparent Church gambit to evangelise paying cinema goers fails. The Church of England (CofE) has announced today that the country’s three largest cinema chains Odeon, Cineworld and Vue – who control 80% of cinema screens around the country – have refused to show the advert because they believe it… “carries the risk of upsetting, or offending, audiences”. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/22/cinema-chains-ban-advert-featuring-lords-prayer OK – firstly this type of Christian fundamentalist propaganda should be kept out of the cinema. We visit such places for entertainment, not to receive religious indoctrination. Not surprisingly the Church is very upset because their depressing little fundamentalist movie, which clearly…
Ex-Conservative Formby Councillor, Barry Griffiths, comes out publicly in support of ex-candidate Cath Regan revealing how the Tory Party treated this hard-working campaigner. Cath Regan and Barry Griffiths go back quite a long way and fought together for stolen maternity and children’s hospital services that were controversially taken away from our area. Recently on Pat Regan’s Facebook page Barry stated the following… https://www.facebook.com/reganclan/posts/10153751939476912?comment_id=10153755477341912¬if_t=feed_comment Cath responded as below… Two of the many CARES events here… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK4yaT_hqVc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc3RrownNj0 Pat Regan added this … How many more local politicians, etc know the truth, yet remain fickle – hearted and thus silent over this…
Cameron and fundamentalism – he cannot have his cake and eat it! British PM, David Cameron, says the Muslim ‘silent majority’ must tackle Islamist extremism. This sounds rather simple – but is it, or are we being treated to yet more political double talk? David Cameron this month said that Islamic religious schools, which teach anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and “fill children with poison and hate” will be investigated and closed down. Well, the PM was also recently telling us all that we live in a “Christian” land. I seem to recall that Christianity is historically anti- Semitic. Did not the…
Pat Regan Southport author and campaigner I was alerted by ‘Humane Society International’ that MPs today (5 Nov. 2015) have the opportunity to discuss actions to stop the dog meat trade, within a Commons debate scheduled by the Backbench Business Committee following a bid from Robert Flello MP. http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/backbench-business-committee/news-parliament-2015/mps-debate-the-dog-meat-trade/ Every year an estimated 30 million dogs across Asia are kept in deplorable conditions and subjected to excruciating and distressing deaths to end up on dinner plates. This brutal trade is principally unregulated and habitually unlawful. Every year millions of pets are stolen to meet the dog traders’ demand, pets that…
A great deal of misunderstanding exists around Halloween. Therefore, what follows may help to clarify a few points. Halloween was originally called ‘SAMHAIN,’ which comes from the Gaelic/Celtic meaning for ‘November’ and ‘summer’s end’. The original Celtic settlers arrived here in around 600 BC, fetching with them their own nature-based polytheistic form of spiritual belief systems. Samhain represented the beginning of the long cold winter; a time when the cattle had to be herded into sheltered quarters as a defensive measure against expected harsh snow-fall, frost, and blizzard. It was also a gloomy period for many Celts, as the…
