Brookdale gets some new signage at last New road signs erected to direct people to Woodvale’s  Brookdale Resource Centre have been welcomed by carers and staff at the facility. However,  some confusion exists due to the following. When travelling down Meadow Lane a Brookdale sign directs people into Sandbrook Road. All well and good you may say, yet once in Sandbrook Road another sign is still required to stop drivers batting along past the left hand turn off for the centre.  It’s too easy to miss the turn and go off along the main road. This latest improvement follows a meeting…

Ainsdale residents have been shocked in many areas to discover more senseless graffiti near to their properties. Liverpool Road, Trevor Road, Staveley Road and Kenilworth Road have all been targeted by vandals. Ainsdale’s Cllr Haydn Preece has spoken to the Chief Executive to ensure we get areas such as the railway bridge cleaned quickly. Cllr Preece stated… “The department concerned needs to clean all graffiti as they had only been cleaning offensive graffiti, which is ridiculous. They quoted government cuts but we must have a zero tolerance to graffiti. Can you think of any old walls where we…

Visitors and residents alike have been complaining about the unsightly graffiti and shoddy state of the Discovery Centre recently. How sad it is that mindless ones, with bored minds, think that vandalising such worthy places stands as fun. If vandals have so much energy to spend on graffiti then let’s hope that if and when caught they can be forced to put as much effort into repainting/repairing this building. Chipped walls and missing paint greet visitors to the Centre… The Discovery Centre certainly requires a proper touch-up, with chipped and eroded paint all over the building. It must be said…

Ainsdale’s Green Gem Ainsdale’s Greenbelt forms a home for a plethora of wildlife and is a wonderful place to visit in all seasons. It’s well worth protecting from the absurdity of ignorant political goons, farce-ridden council ideals and greedy development profiteers. Amazing biodiversity exists on the greenbelt. The appropriately named Speckled Wood flies in moderately shaded woodland with stippled sunlight. Males typically perch in a small pool of sunshine. From such spots they rise quickly to divert any trespasser. Both sexes feed on honeydew in the tree tops. They are seldom seen feeding on flowers, except early and later on…

Behind the scenes the defeated Southport Conservative party has now ceased to be any type of credible political party in the town. All Conservative candidates were thrashed in Southport good and proper.  Leader of the beaten group, Cllr Terry Jones, was quoted in the Champion newspaper saying that it was a “disappointing” night for his party. Jones also said…  “I will use my political time to continue fighting for Ainsdale and Southport and help (the Conservatives) fight back”. With such a pathetic political  record of leadership behind him this promise surely gives little comfort  to the beaten Tory hopefuls who…

The night Southport’s voters finally jettisoned the self-seeking Tories. Southport’s Conservative hopefuls – totally demolished in all wards during the 2016 election. Southport Conservatives were thrown into total disarray last night after losing all seven wards that were being contested. https://www.otsnews.co.uk/lib-dems-whitewash-southport/ The LibDems wiped the floor with the Tories gaining significant majorities of the vote. This total Southport Conservative failure brings into serious question the leadership behind such a terrible defeat under Cllr Terry Jones. Ainsdale’s hard-working, Lynne Thompson, one of the successful  Southport Libdem winners. WILL HE RESIGN? Before the appalling defeat Jones had in fact thanked his retiring…

UKIP’s typically vocal Paul Nuttall was recently reported in OTS News announcing that St George’s Day should be declared a Bank Holiday, https://www.otsnews.co.uk/declare-st-georges-day-a-bank-holiday-says-ukip/ Fair enough you may say. Nevertheless, others will claim this to be just one more transparent way to drum up additional political support, prior to the elections. What else resides behind this man’s past conduct? BLISTERING DOUBLE STANDARDS Nuttall seems quite happy for us to take time off work for this Christian – inspired festival yet he had ‘other’ opinions a while back when people of a different spiritual makeup asked for similar. So why are we experiencing such ‘selective political’ engineering from this man…

Care for the eco-system or political engineering of the lowest order? Woodvale Woodland in Southport holds a plethora of wildlife including many bird species, both natives and visitors from afar. Southport author, Pat Regan, is seen here back in 2009 explaining the origin ‘behind’ the lovely Woodvale woodland in Southport. Please excuse the poor quality of the video, which was taken with a very basic camera at that time. This woodland was created by a 4 to 5 man team in the 1970s and it is now a wildlife reserve in its own right. Pat (pictured above in the 1970s) was  part of…

As usual, Labour is seeking to gain additional support  in Southport. They have recently even presented an article on OTS News. With an election around the corner they are, as expected, showing their faces again. Labour may perhaps be congratulated for taking a harder stance against the local Tory clownship, which exists under group leader, Cllr Terry Jones. Financial irregularities are something that must of course concern us all and be properly addressed. Nevertheless, it must be stated that Labour did absolutely nothing to help needy residents when Ainsdale’s Tories attacked local residents on various issues including the on-going Woodvale Woodland Project (WWP)…

However, one would expect that his colleague, who is ‘supposed’ to run the Southport Conservative page, could at least get the poor man’s name right before finally seeing this chap off. https://southportconservatives-admin.conservativewebsites.org.uk/news/cllr-harhill-announces-his-retirement-public-life Cllr Hartill’s colleague, Cllr Terry Jones stated (with his grammatical errors left intact). Previously, the development plan in Hesketh Bank was met with bitter opposition from residents who claimed the rural infrastructure was not able to support any further development. The initial planning application was submitted to West Lancashire Borough Council by Persimmon Homes for 275 houses, associated garages, roads…

UFO Reporter 51 Interviews Southport Author Pat Regan. 1. What first inspired you to start writing books? My primary method of self-expression used to be via painting. Later I discovered that the written word was something that I could use to good effect. My original inspiration possibly came from a wish to search out the truth behind the Church-dogma that I had forced into my mind as a child, via Catholic education. Something just told me it was wrong and that the truth resided in nature, not any manmade chapel of brick 2. You have written many books on different…

The early Church was highly skilled at transforming the native spiritual loyalties and traditions of the Pagan populace over to the new intolerant monotheistic credo. Elated Pagan spring festivities, relating to love and desire, came under the iron-fisted conversion remit of the sexually-repressive Church. Therefore, let us explore this matter in more detail.  Valentine who? The St. Valentine narrative is a typical Christian fable, with historical authorities and Church scholars not even really agreeing on the supposed origins of the saint in question. The Feast of St. Valentine was originally established in 496 by Pope Gelasius I. Gelasius inferred that nothing was…
