Ainsdale woodland is under threat from Sefton’s persistently heartless council and One Vision Housing (OVH) development proposals. Residents in George Drive Ainsdale are understandably outraged by cold – hearted council plans to destroy a beloved wildlife haven. https://youtu.be/wUBX6bq3HfQ Ainsdale eco-campaigner, Cath Regan, had one short walk in the woods and immediately realised how valuable the place was. The established woodlands hold a plethora of wildlife including many species of wild birds that rely on this lovely old green area for survival. Legally – protected Bats are also known to use the woodland as a roost. In fact bat boxes were…

Never mind the Crow’s nest – what about the Moorhen’s nest? Paul Callaghan of the Blundellsands Sailing Club brought my attention to a real nautical tale of true care for the environment. https://youtu.be/1VsZpU0Tadk An ecologically – minded boat owner, Alan Roe, took the correct action and observed wildlife laws concerning nesting birds when he discovered moorhens with chicks on his yacht. The birds decided that they liked the look of the boat and made a home there, whilst Alan was away. These photos were taken from the bank at some distance with super zoom. The kind boat owner did the…
Residents and Ainsdale councillors pushing council hard for action on Woodvale eyesore The decaying Brook monstrosity on Sandbrook Way in Woodvale has created social dismay and frustration in the community for many years. It’s not only an eyesore but also a health and safety nightmare. Local flats and shops are also in a poor state of repair. Residents have been demanding improvements for years. Sefton Council are well aware (as they have been for many years) that the state of the properties in question are a public health hazard in many ways. They cannot deny this. Hard-working councillors, Haydn Preece…

After the Brexit fight and Cameron’s promise to go, the cats’ claws are out for his job. I for one feel that the choices being tabled are pretty inadequate, to say the least. Let’s look at two leading contenders on offer – Leadsom and May So Theresa May is in favour of diminished rights of women and ritual animal abuse, as advocated under religious -based Sharia laws? That is the same (fundamentalist appeasement) angle taken by David Cameron a while ago. http://pat-regan.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/tories-are-anti-english-party-that-has.html What a foolish woman May must be to think that such stupid remarks will go unchallenged! One sickening example of violent Christian fundamentalism and how it affects social harmony https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoJkrFyyy_E Note the crucifixion picture behind him and the pious references to Satan and God. This is one minor but detestable illustration of Christian fundamentalism in action. This is the church of hate against anyone who fails to conform to their expected biblical standard. More bible-inspired hate and endorsement for anti-gay violence from the same mouth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgmI50UHsNA Truth is in the opposite So called religions of peace, like Christianity and Islam etc, are quite the reverse when we recall that millions of similarly indoctrinated sheep follow the…

A mystery object, discovered on 23 June 2016 in the River Alt estuary mud (Hightown, Liverpool), had the experts baffled. Ex-coast guard officer, Paul Harrison, examined photos of the object. Of all archetypal symbols making an imposing impact on the human spirit, probably none remains more intensely embedded in our subconscious than the circle or the wheel. Once again the solar orb, the great life-giver, reaches its full pinnacle of supremacy. The circle is an emblem of constancy within existence. It is a sign of the Lunar/Solar principles and it is a symbol of timelessness because it has no beginning and no end. As a symbol of the Sun it is at its most captivating zenith during the Midsummer Solstice. This is a special period when the solar orb is…

More good reasons why Sefton’s lazy Council need to wake up and shift these ineffectual eyesores Speed Bumps are killing us, said Capital’s ambulance chief A top London Ambulance Service boss previously advised that speed bumps are killing hundreds of residents by delaying 999 crews. Speed bumps produce rising maintenance costs because the road surface before and after a bump may develop potholes following a period of time. This results in increased upkeep. In addition to fully resurfacing the road it is often necessary to remove and replace the bumps. The sides of the bumps also wear out and eventually need repair. This all adds to the overall cost, which us taxpayer’s have to eventually fund. Above: Ainsdale’s Orchard Lane and a dangerous pothole that has developed on the edge of a speed bump. The speed bump menace, time for them to go That horrible grinding thud, many of us know the score. Although you drove very carefully over that unsightly speed bump you still heard that sickening grinding of metal or plastic under your car. A trip to your local mechanical engineer confirms that the dreaded speed bump has ripped another chunk off your vehicle. Expensive repairs follow and the belligerent Council, who put these unwanted things in your road, is deaf and dumb to your understandable requests for compensation. An established Southport motor engineer, Dave Elsby, was asked about damage to vehicles by…
Chaos at Formby waste recycling centre This afternoon drivers and staff faced pandemonium at Formby’s waste recycling centre, near Tesco’s superstore in Altcar Road. Tree bumblebees first arrived from continental Europe about 15 years ago. They have now been seen throughout England, Wales and southern Scotland. They are doing well in the UK and helping our native eco-system because they are effective pollinators. Prof Mark Brown, Royal Holloway, University of London stated… “In Continental Europe, it lives side-by-side with a lot of the species we have in the UK.” Stuart Roberts, who is chair of the Bees, Wasps and Ants Recording Society (BWARS), which works with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, said the organisation had received a record number of sightings in 2013 and 2014. Last week, a Southport mum (Cath Regan) who is a regular customer used a wall-mounted cash machine outside the popular Morrisons store. Ainsdale’s Councillor Haydn Preece is very pleased to advise that the Cleansing Department have now agreed to clean graffiti from identified areas, including Kenilworth Road Bridge. Numerous residents have contacted Cllr Preece and Cllr Lynne Thompson about this problem. This is a drain on resources and both councillors have requested social responsibility from those who are aerosol painting on public areas that cost a great deal to clean off. Both councillors would happily meet up with interested parties and investigate a graffiti art wall where free expression could legally be available. Cllr Preece has also requested for police patrols to…
