Appeal after pensioner hit by car on Friday of Southport Flower Show

Merseyside police are appealing for information following a road traffic collision in Southport on 17th August, the Friday of the Southport Flower Show.

At around 11:45am, a call was received of a collision having occurred near the roundabout junction of Marine Drive and Esplanade, close to Southport Eco Centre and Southport Pleasureland.

The collision involved a black Kia Sportage and a 76-year-old female pedestrian, who sustained a serious leg injury.

Constable Roper from Matrix Roads Policing said: “Due to the Southport Flower show, the area was busy with pedestrians and vehicles at the time of this collision and we would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed it to make contact with us.

“Likewise, if you were passing at the time and have any dash camera footage of the incident we would be grateful to hear from you.”
