Appeal for information after theft of jewellery from house in Southport

Merseyside police are appealing for information to trace jewellery that is believed to have been stolen from in a theft from a house in Southport.

At some time between Friday, 21 September and Thursday, 4 October, three rings were taken from the bedroom of a house in Merlewood Avenue.

The theft was only discovered later.

At this stage, the circumstances of the theft are not confirmed but officers are issuing descriptions of the jewellery and images of one of the rings in an effort to locate the items, or establish if anyone has been offered them in recent days and weeks.

The rings are described as:

One dress ring with two large diamante stones (pictured)

One 21-diamond stone cluster engagement ring with the inscription of “HW. PM. 6-10-74”

One 18 caret double band eternity ring with diamonds around the ring, which is approximately 80 years old

Inspector Susan Stribling said: “The sentimental value of this jewellery cannot be measured, including a deeply personal, inscribed engagement ring.

“I would implore anyone who has seen or been offered any items matching these descriptions or photos to do the right thing and come forward as soon as possible.

“We are determined to find these items and those responsible, and put them before the courts.”
