Alan promises garden bonanza at Botanic Show

The Southport Chrysanthemum and Gardening Society will stage their summer show next weekend.

The event will run from 1pm- 4.30pm on Saturday, September 8 and from 10am – 4.30pm on Sunday, September 9 at the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown.

Alan Foxall, secretary of the Society said: “Our summer flower
show looks set to bring a touch of magic and colour to our summer days.

In addition to displays of single chrysanthemums, large blooms and sprays there will be classes for dahlias, begonias, fuchsias, exotic orchids and cacti.

“For those who prefer growing their own produce to eat a variety of fruit and vegetables will feature. The floral art section has themes of ‘Laced with Charm’, ‘How Does Your Garden Grow’, ‘From The Garden Shed’, ‘Totally Differen’t and ‘Memories Are Made of This.’

Entries are encouraged from the complete novice to the highly experienced.
“Talented cooks will be vying for the best date and walnut bun loaf, brownies, fruit scones, apple pie, raspberry jam and tomato chutney.
