The North West air ambulance made an emergency landing on KGV playing fields yesterday afternoon
The air unit was called to the Kew area around 3pm on Wednesday afternoon, taking off from Blackpool airport and circling overhead while ground crews cleared a landing site.
The ambulance landed on the playing fields between KGV and Meols Cop High School.
OTS understands the call for helicopter assistance was made so that a patient could be transferred to a specialist unit in Lancashire.
The air ambulance took off shortly after 3:45pm with a patient and flew towards Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
