Dog walker says beach parking is double yellow standards

A dog walker has accused Sefton Council of misleading permit holders about parking on double yellow lines near to Ainsdale.

Crossens resident Angela Bulteel, 75, said that she applied for a £45 beach car park pass last June, which she believed that she could use for a year.

She rang the Council and was informed that it was for the ‘season’ and that when the beach car park closed for the winter, it ran out.

But she claims that she was then told by council staff, in October, that she could park on the double yellow lines leading from the closed car park up towards Pontins as long as she left her permit on display.

The retired antiques dealer, who walks her two Ger- man Shepherds and Border Collie cross every day, used to live in Ainsdale until four years ago and loves walking the dogs on the beach.

Angela visits Ainsdale beach with the dogs at least three times a week and she has never been ticketed for parking on that stretch of double yellows on the road in the last three months.
