Parts of Southport Pier will be dismantled within weeks, the council have confirmed.
The old rotted and rusted material on the Pier will be taken away by contractor AE Yates from mid July.
Cllr Marion Atkinson, leader of the council, said that people will soon see ‘contractor movement’ on the Pier over the coming weeks.
This will include part of the structure being dismantled.
A makeshift work yard had also been set up in Ocean Plaza’s car park to act as a compound for the contractor.
She said “We promised we would bring our fantastic Pier back and that is exactly what we are doing.”
