Southport Neighbourhood officers have continued to disrupt organised crime activity in Southport by dismantling another cannabis farm.
The finding of this farm, located in the basement of the old main Post Office on Lord Street in Southport, comes shortly after the team found a very large cannabis farm at a disused care home on Alexandra Road in May.
A cannabis farm was located by the Neighbourhood Team in the same Post Office, 12 months ago.
Following complaints from nearby residents, Neighbourhood Police Officers investigated the area and obtained a warrant for the old Post Office building. The warrant was executed on Wednesday 1st June in the afternoon and work has continued on the dismantling of the cannabis farm yesterday, Thursday 2nd June.
Approximately 150 cannabis plants and equipment have all been taken for destruction.
An investigation into who is responsible for the cannabis farm has begun.
Sergeant Leach of the Southport Neighbourhood Team commented, “This is more great work from the Neighbourhood Team, disrupting criminal activity and hitting their profits from crime.
“Cannabis farms often involve the exploitation of vulnerable people and even human trafficking. Electricity breaches and large amounts of water increase risk of fire, and danger to local residents.
“These farms need to be closed down and we will continue to do this, along with all the other work that Neighbourhood teams do on a daily basis.”
