Merseyside Police has arrested a man following an assault in Southport in the early hours of today (17 February 2017).

It was reported a 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman had been punched to the face by a man who was known to them in the car park of  Radley Court, Promenade at around 2.30am.

Two cars in the car park were also damaged during the incident.

The offender then left the scene in a car.

One of the women sustained a broken nose and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 24-year-old old man from Southport was later arrested on suspicion of two assaults, drink driving and criminal damage. He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.
