Warning of a Cold Caller in Southport

Last week after nurses had visited and left a resident’s address in Southport, a female called at the property and told the occupier that she had professional links with the nurses. It was suggested by her that the occupier may find the product she would demonstrate could help in the patient’s recovery.

The female went into the property and stayed for 3 hours using ‘hard sell’ tactics to persuade the resident to purchase the TENS machine she was demonstrating. The cost of the product she at first stated would be £2,000, but after showing the resident various other products, the purchase price of the TENS machine came down to £1,467.

Further investigations have shown the TENS machine she demonstrated could be purchased for under £100 on the Internet.

The female who sold the machine had no links with the nurses and was not known to them. No documentation was left with the buyer.

The Cold Caller was described as, white, British with fair bob style length hair, in her late fifties and wearing plain clothes, she was not in uniform.
