Sefton Council has scrapped the half hour parking (70p) with drivers now having to pay a minimum 1 hour’s parking charge if they want to call into a shop. Sefton Council hope that this will bring in an extra £547,000 from motorists this year. Local resident George Carter said: “This is going to hit the small independent shops the hardest, free out of town parking at places such as Kew estate is much better – Sefton Council is turning the screw on Southport’s coffin” Submit News Contact us with your community, business or sport news.
