Man wanted by police after Southport assault

Police have released the photo of a man they wish to speak to following an alleged assault in Southport last year.

During the incident, which took place on Rufford Road on October 13, a 38-year-old woman was assaulted and threatened and her 31-year-old male friend was also assaulted.

Detectives want to speak to Geoffrey Bamber(48), about the assault, as well as the breaching of a restraining order.

Officers say they have made extensive efforts to trace Bamber and are now asking the public to help them.

Bamber is a HGV driver by trade and has links to Southport, as well as Seaforth, Bootle, Litherland, Huyton, and Sutton Leach in St Helens. He is also known to have travelled recently to the Gwent area of South Wales.

Anyone who recognises Bamber or knows where he is should call  Police on 0151 777 3027 or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
