We’re looking to trace a man we believe can help our investigation after a train guard was verbally abused at Ainsdale station.

The incident occurred at around 11.55pm on Thursday, 21 January.

Investigating officer PC Richard Lamb said: “A man, accompanied by a woman, left the 23:06 Hunts Cross to Southport service and as he did so, swore at the train guard.

“Behaviour like this towards rail staff will not be tolerated. The train guard was simply doing his job and did not deserve to be abused in this manner.”

Officers have managed to isolate a CCTV image of a man they believe will have information about the incident – who is he?

If you know the man pictured, or have any information about the incident, please give us a call on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference BA/P354 of 11/02/2016. Alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
