Gin festival Will Be The ‘Perfect’ Summer Remedy
This weekend Southport hosts its first ever gin festival – thanks to the staff at Remedy bar in the town centre.
Owners Sarah Simcock and Susannah Porter, who launched Remedy last year at the former Tourist Information Centre in the resort, say they cannot wait to bring the first ever Gin Festival to Southport in June.
Gin lovers flocked to Southport for the opening day and packed out the special marquee in the Town Hall Gardens.
The celebration of all things gin coincides with World Gin Day on June 12.
Co-owner Sarah said: “We wanted to bring something fun and exciting to Southport as most of the major events tend to be held in Liverpool and Manchester.
“We have chosen this weekend as it is World Gin Day on the Sunday and so it seemed rather apt. It is a celebration of gin as it is having such huge success across the UK at the moment!
“We will be stocking gins from all over the world and will be showcasing some new tonics and mixers. We have some brand ambassadors and distilleries representing their products over the weekend and will be hosting some gin masterclasses throughout the sessions.
“There will also be live music and food available.
“There are four sessions over the weekend.
“Your ticket gains you entry to the festival where there will be up to 100 gins to choose from. Gin tokens can be purchased during each session.
“Each customer will receive a complimentary Remedy festival glass and a tasting book.
“We have been overwhelmed by the response so far, ticket sales are selling fast!”
“The festival will run from today (June 10) and finish on Sunday evening.
