Police were called around 8.20pm on Saturday (September 17) following reports of an accident on Dam Wood Lane. A 14-year-old boy from Ormskirk was cycling across the road when he was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Corsa. The teenager suffered serious head and facial injuries and was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Corsa, a 57-year-old man from Southport, was uninjured. The road as closed for more than three hours while accident investigators attended the scene. Sgt John Jennings-Wharton, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for information after a road collision in Scarisbrick. “A 14-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries and we are keen to establish exactly what happened. “If you saw either the cyclist or Corsa prior to the collision, please contact us.” Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log reference 1499 of September 17.
